A religious temple is dedicated to the Goddess Savitri which sits atop the crest of Ratnagiri Hill, Pushkar. The religious shrine is devoted to Goddess Savitri the first wife of Lord Brahma and also houses the idol of Savitri and Gayatri (two wives of Lord Brahma). As per rituals Goddess Savitri is always worshipped first and then prayers are offered to Goddess Gayatri. 


History of Savitri Temple –According to Hindu Mythology, once Lord Brahma was performing Yagna on the bank of Pushkar Lake where the presence of Goddess Savitri was required. Since she was late in arriving and the holy moment was passing by, at that time Brahma married another girl to complete his ritual. On the instance when Goddess Savitri arrived, she was upset to see someone else in her place, and in her anger, she cursed everyone present there. Later Savitri went to the hilltop and from then the agreement was made that the goddess will always be worshiped first before Gayatri. And this tradition still continues in the temples . 

 

Ropeway adventure at the temple – The Savitri Temple Ropeway or cable car is one of the most adventurous things to enjoy in Pushkar which operates from the base of the hill. As this temple is located on top of Ratnagiri Hill, you will get a chance to capture the breathtaking views of the surroundings. It gives a classic bird-eye view of the entire town of Pushkar and has been a wonderful adventurous experience to witness its aerial passengers. The aerial ropeway constructed at a height of 202 meters covering a distance of 720 meters in just 6 minutes, easing the strenuous climb for all age-groups of devotees and letting them close to the divine. The ropeway operates from 9 am to 7 pm, so one can take a wonderful sunset view. While enjoying the activity, you must take all the necessary precautions suggested by the local guides. 

 

How to get-in Savitri Temple Pushkar? Reaching Savitri Temple takes just a short 15-minute walk southwest from Pushkar ghat. In fact, you can spot the temple resting atop Ratnagiri Hill from most points in Pushkar city. The instance you reach the hill, you’ll notice several stalls and vendors selling everything from tea to snacks and handicrafts. Apparently, there are over 200 steps that are an important part of hiking up to the pilgrimage site especially for Hindu people. So, you can get your step on in-time for sunrise or sunset and enjoy the splendid views of the city. 

 

Opening/Closing Time & Days – The Savitri Temple in Pushkar remains open throughout the week from 5 am to 12 pm and then from 4 pm to 9 pm.
